About Belly Dance and Arab Dances:

 

Arab dances may refer to the hundreds of dance styles performed in the Arab speaking countries from Morocco in Africa to the Middle East. There are multiple folkloric dances in each area, and Arab and Middle Eastern communities dance for fun at their weddings and celebrations all over the world. More recently, performers adapted those folkloric and social dances for the stage as entertainment and art. Dancers added new spectacular costumes, props, and steps to create raks sharki or, as it is better known, Bellydance.
